REN is a brand that has always been on my radar, but for whatever reason, their products tend not to make it home with me. I was excited to be able to try this "Glow and Go!" set containing the much loved Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask and their Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial, both of which I had dabbled with before but not really used extensively. I have to say that I have mixed feelings on this one, and as a result have thought about this review for quite some time. Some days, both products are just amazing, and other days, it just isn't right for my skin.
The Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask in particular, I had tried way back when it was first popular 2-3 years ago and found it too harsh for my skin. It left my skin looking a bit red or irritated, which was not at all what I hoped for. This time around, some days it leaves my skin looking smooth, clear, and glowing, while other days I see signs of redness and irritation pop up. I haven't figured it all out yet, but I can say that I have success with this when my skin doesn't feel irritated to begin with, perhaps feels a bit clogged, and I wear it for less than the recommended 10 minutes.
I love the concept of the Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial, an exfoliant like product that you apply, wet, then rinse off. I often find it difficult to fit in a mask, so this is the perfect solution. I had gotten a sample size from Space NK from an order or something when it first launched, and I liked the product then, and I still like it now. However, given that my skin seems to go through bouts of irritation, this also seems to provide mixed results. When my skin feels normal, this one definitely de-clogs and leaves everything feeling smooth and looking better, but I've also had days where it just doesn't help at all. But then again, my skin been all over the place lately!
If you're curious to try these products, I definitely recommend that you grab a sample first to see how your skin fares with it. I imagine those with sensitive or reactive skin would not have great results with these products, given my experience. However, if you've always wanted to try one or both of these products, I totally think this kit is an affordable ($22!) introduction to the brand!
Have you tried these masks from REN? How did they work out for you? Do you have any favorite peels or quick rinse off masks? I'd love to know!
