I can't believe that it's April already, and I'm sorry I've sort of disappeared! March just flew by, and between work and everything else, I just couldn't seem to keep up. At any rate, I hope to be back to my regular posting schedule now, and I thought I would start with a few products that weren't quite right for me.
The first was Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Mono Cream Eyeshadow, a relatively new-ish release from the brand. Being a die hard cream eyeshadow fan, the release of this formula from D&G was kind of exciting! After reading some positive reviews, I decided to give the formula a try, and I have to say that the reviews are not wrong. The formula itself is SUPER creamy, and feels almost mousse-like to the touch. It also wears quite well - even after 9+ hours without primer, it looks much like it did when I first applied it.
My one disappointment was the shade. In the pot, Dahlia is a gorgeous purple with flecks of shimmer. In many swatches that I saw, it pulls taupe and just looks right up my alley. On my eyes however, it leans warmer and doesn't do much for my skintone. I wish it looked like how it does in the pot. I was sad to return this, but I'll be keeping my eye out for another shade.
At some point, I randomly ordered the Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette. Perhaps it was due to hype, but I remembered once swatching a Kat Von D shadow and finding the texture to be surprisingly soft and creamy. My memory served me well, as these eyeshadows did indeed have a great texture. I had no complaints when it came to wear time either, but in the end there were a handful of colors I realized I wouldn't use, and a few that looked quite similar on my eyes. (Why does this palette need two gray/silver shades??)
I also found that this palette may have caused some sort of allergy. Perhaps it was a coincidence, but my eyes became somewhat red/puffy on several occasions that I wore this eyeshadow, and it hasn't happened otherwise. :(
I was on the fence, but I ended up returning both of these products and plan to purchase another D&G shadow once I decide what shade to try next.
Are there any products you've run into lately that you don't quite love? Have you tried these eyeshadows from D&G or Kat Von D? How did they work out for you? I'd love to know!
