This summer, I indulged in 2 candles that I've been enjoying from Malin + Goetz and Cire Trudon. (Cire Trudon, eeeeek!!!) I've been quite excited to try both candles, which are both new to me and highly anticipated.
Malin + Goetz Neroli Candle
Citrus based scents have always been a favorite of mine, so when I read some positive reviews of Malin + Goetz candles, I knew that this was the one to try. Surprisingly, I found this one to be more floral and musky than citrus, and reviewing the notes from Malin + Goetz confirmed what I was smelling - top notes of bitter orange and lemon, a heart of neroli and orange blossom and a base of petitgrain, iris and musk.
This full size candle is 9oz while the travel sizes are 2.35oz. I have to say that the travel sizes are almost reasonably priced, coming in at $16, which makes for a great trial size or small gift item. :)
I'm glad I tried this candle, though I'm not sure I would repurchase this scent. The iris and musk stands out very clearly to me, nearly overpowering the neroli, but then again every nose is different. I do really like that this candle has lasted a while, and burns very clean despite my poor care and inconsistent wick trimming.
Cire Trudon Dada Candle (Travel Size)
It kills me to admit that I've spent this much on a candle, even if it is a travel size one. I've had a few Diptyque candles but Cire Trudon prices just make me cringe. Fortunately, I managed to pick up this one when Beautyhabit ran a promotion in July. (Love them!)
This candle contains notes of tea and vetiver, which are two scents I love and can't get enough of. I can't stop sniffing this candle - there's a creamy tea element to it that I find addicting!
Here are the notes from Cire Trudon: top note : eucalyptus, buchu leaves / middle : tea, mint / base : camomile. How could it be anything but love?? When the tea and mint emerges, I love the scent even more - which I didn't even think was possible!
Much in line with Diptyque sizes, Cire Trudon candles come in the following sizes:
- Classic Candle - Weight: 9.5 oz - Burn Time : 55 to 60 hours
- Travel Candle - Weight: 3.5 oz - Burn Time : 20 to 25 hours
I can't wait to add another to my collection, and I know I'll be saving this one for quite a while...
One thing I will note is that I don't feel that either of these have as much throw as some of the Diptyque candles I've used, but I do seem to be the only one that thinks this. My husband enjoys both scents and doesn't share my opinion. :) (My nose is weird, plus allergies are bugging me lately, so that may be the culprit.)
Have you tried either of these candles? What are your favorites lately? I'd love to know!
