I don't know about you, but I cannot pack a minimal makeup bag if I'm away from home for more than a few days. A girl has to have options, right?! I spent about 9 days in Europe recently, and I packed a HUGE makeup bag. (Seriously, did I need 5+ lipsticks? Clearly not!) When I got home I realized I stuck to a handful of products and I thought it would interesting to share what I actually used!
Most days, I stuck to the Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick* (review here) so I could quickly look decent for a day of sightseeing. Since my skin was all over the place on this trip, I did wear foundation almost everyday, and when I had a little more time, I used the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation, which tends to be my pick when I want more coverage and/or think I'll be photographed.
I also used my Burberry Cashmere Concealer, which I just find super convenient and have reached for often since I got it last year. This is a light to medium coverage concealer with the softest applicator, and it is just so easy to pop on and blend with fingers. I also broke out the Tata Harper Highlighter* and Matte Bronzer*, which I've only used a handful of times but find quite lovely so far.
On the brows, I switched between the Kevyn Aucoin The Precision Brow Pencil* and Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade. Sometimes both at the same time, haha! For eyeshadow, I kept it simple and used the ILIA Silken Shadow Stick in Age of Consent* with either the Tom Ford Eye Defining Liquid Liner Pen or the Nars Larger Than Life Eyeliner in Rue St. Honore, a gorgeous navy blue. I also liked using the Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad in Orchid Haze for a slightly smoky daytime look. Sad times though, cause the cap came off on one side of the Tom Ford eyeliner while it was in my bag and that side dried out. :(
Lastly, I only ended up using a few tools for the casual makeup looks I did on this trip. First, the Hourglass Vanish Foundation Brush was so handy to use with the Foundation Stick. Plus it is so cute and portable! I'm totally a fan of the Anastasia Duo Brow Brush #12 too. I also used my two favorite Hakuhodo eyeshadow brushes, the J004G and J125 (review here) and really didn't feel the need for anything else.
