At some point over the last few years, I began hoarding lipstick, which is a particularly weird obsession for someone who doesn't wear lipstick often... At any rate, I thought it would be fun to share the lip products I've been wearing since the year started!
La Mer The Lip Balm
I've had this lip balm for quite some time now, but it is always my go to when the weather is cold and my lips just can't take it anymore. There's something about it that seems to work best (magically?) when your lips are in their worst condition, so I've been saving this little tub of goodness for when I'm desperate. Perhaps I should use it more (and I do plan to use this one up this year, as I talked about here), but this is one of my favorite luxe lip balms out there.
Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lip Potion in True Liar
There's something about this shade that I just cannot get away from. and it was a big hit with you guys on my Instagram here and here. I love that on me, it can be a little more red or a little more purple depending on how much I apply, and it is just the perfect statement shade for fall and winter. It wears well though it requires reapplication after meals, and does not cause my lips to dry out or peel.
I do have a few concerns about the product though, my main gripe being that it does take a bit of work to remove despite it being a more "wet" formula that is a bit transfer prone. While the applicator has a precise teardrop shape, I find myself having to correct the edges sometimes because of how wet the formula is. I do find that it can get a bit patchy if my lips are very dry and I haven't prepped them with any balm when I use it, though I feel like that's to be expected. It's a decent liquid lipstick formula though, and I can't stop obsessing over the shade!
Tom Ford Private Blend Lipstick in Aphrodisiac (LE)
This lipstick came out ages ago and I was desperate to have it... and I realized this week that I had never even used it. Typical. It's a gorgeous medium pink, and while I didn't love it with the makeup look I sported that day, I still love love love the Tom Ford lipstick formula as much as I did when the lipsticks first came out. (Seriously though, these creamy lipsticks are just magic/Photoshop for my dry lips.)
Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Color in Plum Orchid
Another lipstick I've had for who knows how long and never worn... See a trend here? I imagined this to be more of a berry shade but discovered it to be a great pinky-red perfect for New Year's Day dinner. I've always liked this formula from Laura Mercier because it is creamy and doesn't make my lips peel or feel dry. The best part? This one is more reasonably priced than many other lipsticks I feel the urge to buy. (HA!)
Nars Audacious Lipstick in Fanny
This one is a new purchase from last weekend (yay, I used it!), but I'm really loving the Nars Audacious formula right now. I've had them on my wishlist ever since the lipsticks came out, but never gotten around to purchasing one. While I'm happy I managed to ignore most lipsticks last year, I definitely wish I had bought one sooner. I'm loving Anna for daytime, and Fanny is just a fantastic berry/fuschia shade. A creamy, almost hydrating formula and luxe packaging - what more could a girl ask for??
I'm thinking about doing this sort of post more regularly - what do you think? But more importantly, what lip products have you been using so far this year? I'd love to know! :)
