At some point this year, I realized that I wasn't going to hire a makeup artist for my wedding. Yikes. I've never thought of myself as being particularly good at applying makeup - I've always been a obsessive product junkie, out for the newest and greatest - so this was a surprising decision for me.
I enlisted the help of my best friend - who is actually quite good at makeup, in my opinion - to help me with my makeup on the big day. I thought I would plan ahead and even practice, but my wedding makeup ended up being a bit of a last minute affair.
The Basics
There were a handful of products I knew I would use, without question. Phew. For foundation, I used a mix of Ellis Faas Skin Veil and Chantecaille Future Skin, a combination that was necessary to concoct my perfect color after my #girlstrip tan, and I have to say both of these foundations were somehow more amazing mixed together.
I can't go anywhere without my Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder, and for eyes I always rely on the Kevyn Aucoin Precision Liquid Liner and Nars Pro Prime Smudgeproof Eye Base.
The Finishing Touches
I've really been loving Kevyn Aucoin Precision Brow Pencil* lately, so it was the perfect choice to fill in my brows. Somehow, the color and formula just works. For mascara, I chose Chantecaille Supreme Cils, a smudge and flake proof formula that makes my lashes look huge.
On the skin, I chose some a handful of glowy but subtle products. I started with Oskia Get Up & Glow, a somewhat new to me product that really does seem to perk up the skin. To highlight the cheeks and browbone, I used an old favorite, Jouer Highlighter in Tiare*, a lovely cream product I hadn't used in quite a while. I topped that off with a swirl of Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in Radiant Light and Hourglass Ambient Powder in Diffused*, both of which I haven't talked about yet but are quite lovely!
The Last Minute Picks
My lip color and eyeshadow were definitely last minute picks (see the lip choices here) and I'm happy at how it all turned out! Phew. I ended up layering the Sisley Phyto Lip Twist in #4 Pinky over Make Lipstick in Taffy, which I thought made a great combination!
For eyes, I chose the Tom Ford Cream Color for Eyes in Platinum, a gorgeous long lasting cream formula that I used in the middle of the lid. I also used a dark and light shade from the Bobbi Brown Hot Nudes Eyeshadow Palette, a last minute impulse purchase when I was in a panic over eyeshadow. (LOL) It's not a palette that I would ordinarily look at since it has quite a bit of shimmer in it, but somehow I found it to be really refined shimmer and just right for this look.
Here's a photo of the look that a friend took... Maybe one day I'll have the official photos to show!
What do you think of my wedding makeup choices? Would you do your own makeup? What kind of look would you choose? I'd love to know!
