September Beauty Purchases

I'm not even going to call this a low buy recap, because I find that I'm doing a terrible job! Well, I suppose this month wasn't so bad in terms of quantity of products purchased... but still. With the holidays fast approaching, I'm sort of over this whole no buy thing? Oh well, I think I am just being dramatic!

As you might suspect, I was quite tempted by the Space NK beauty event early on in the month. Thanks to Gummy's help, we were able to split the GWP, and I chose a few lovely items that had been on my wishlist. Sai Sei Mineral Seaweed Bath Crystals, ByTerry Ombre Blackstar in Bronze Moon, and Laura Mercier Creme Eye Detail Brush all ended up in my shopping cart.

Thanks to a Sephora gift card, I picked up the Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish in Kensington High Street and Bite Beauty Line & Define Lip Primer. Another late night shopping venture landed me with the Make Up For Ever 160 Blush Brush from their new Artisan line.

What did you buy this month? I'd love to know! :)

The October Sampler

A little while ago, Gummy came up with the brilliant idea to spend a month trying to use up samples. You never really notice, but the amount of free samples (or gift with purchases or whatever) just keep piling up!

So we devised the October Sampler, a month where we try to use up as many samples as possible. I'm also horrified to report that almost every single sample I show you in the photos below has been collected since August 4th. Seriously, where do all these things come from??? I thought I was doing a good job giving samples away too!

In the interest of being organized, and being able to provide brief summaries of each product I try later this month, I've split the samples into 5 categories. I'm horrified. LOL.

1. Hair & Shower

2. Cleansers, Exfoliators, & Masks

3. Skincare Deluxe Samples

4. Miscellaneous

5. Complexion Perfectors

Now I'm a bit terrified to think of what my makeup collection looks like, as I know there are many many little minis of lip things, primers, mascaras and the like. I can't even bear to think of my quite full sample drawers at home... So I think the October Sampler will have to be a regular event!

The Rules:

  • Take a photo of all the samples at the beginning of the month, so everyone knows what you're trying to use up.
  • Finish as many samples as possible, but if a multiuse one doesn't work, we don't have to use that up. (I plan to give away those un-loved deluxe samples!)
  • Keep all the finished (or partially used) samples for a post at the end of the month.
  • At the end of the month, post a before and after to show what was used up!

Lush Fair Trade Honey Shampoo

A month or so ago, Lush sent me their Fair Trade Honey Shampoo. I'm a fan of honey, so I was thrilled to try this volumizing, moisturizing shampoo.

lush fair trade honey shampoo review

This floral and honey scented shampoo is my favorite so far of the Lush shampoos I've tried. While Cynthia Sylvia Stout gives my hair a super clean feel and makes it quite soft, it also makes my fine hair even more wispy. Rehab, on the other hand gives my hair some needed texture, and I find that Fair Trade Honey falls right in between the two. My hair is clean, not too fluffy or too textured, and very easy to work with.

Now I'm not a hair expert by any means, but I am definitely a fan of this preservative free shampoo.  Have you tried Lush Fair Trade Honey Shampoo? What are your Lush haircare favorites? I'd love to know!
