I've always been a big fan of citrus scented products, so when I discovered that Molton Brown was releasing a fragrance in their Orange and Bergamot scent, I jumped at the chance to try it.
I'm terrible at describing scents but I find this one to smell most like orange blossom and neroli to my nose. It is much less floral to me than Jo Malone's Orange Blossom, which for some reason makes me want to sneeze. I also feel like there is a smooth or creamy element to the scent that I can't explain. I do wish I smelled more bergamot, as that is one of my favorite scents out there, but it may just be my nose that is unable to distinguish it.
Here are the fragrance notes from Molton Brown.
Top Notes: Orange oil, bergamot, lemon, mandarin
Heart: Pettigrain, cardamom, galbanum
Base: Neroli, Ylang-ylang, musk
After a few hours on my skin, the orange really emerges and just smells like an orange, and the scent seems to really fade after that. On my husband, however, it is totally different and seems to retain all of its original elements along with the orange, but it does seem to fade quicker than other scents on him as well.
Despite my issues with longevity, I think the scent is a unique one if you like citrus based scents. If citrus fragrances tend not to last on you, this one might be a skip since I usually don't have any issues with longevity. However, if you're a fan of Molton Brown's scents, I think their fragrance is definitely worth testing to see if the other varieties last longer on the skin.
Have you tried Molton Brown fragrances? Do you have a favorite scent from their bath and body range? I'd love to know! :)
