♡ Koh Gen Do Moisture Foundation

March 23, 2013

During the Barney's Beauty Event in February, I purchased a few items from Koh Gen Do. It was a last hurrah of sorts before I embarked on my epic no buy, and boy am I happy to have finally splurged on a few goodies from Koh Gen Do. :)I've been wearing this foundation most days since I bought it, and I just have to say that I'm glad I did. The finish is SO natural, and it just works. Depending on how much you apply, coverage is really buildable. If I apply it all over, I find that it gives my skin a bit of very natural radiance. LOVE IT! Also, I apply it with fingers but love it with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush too.

The only issue I see is that the color range is quite limited. :( I have Shade 123, and here's a look at the shades available.

Check out this video where I talk (quite a lot) about this foundation and also apply it lightly to my skin.

What do you think of Koh Gen Do Moisture Foundation? Have you tried this or any other makeup product from Koh Gen Do? I'd love to know! :)

Lift Your Eyes with Koh Gen Do Macro Vintage Stretch Eye Sheet

February 17, 2013

I was really excited when Koh Gen Do sent me single use packets of their Macro Vintage Stretch Eye Sheet and Essence Mask, but it seemed too indulgent to use on any old day. I have this habit of saving some of my more luxurious goodies, and this was no exception. I broke out the Macro Vintage Stretch Eye Sheet, and I completely loved it. Here's what Koh Gen Do says about the mask on their website.

Designed to moisturize, lift, and combat wrinkles, this little mask sounds pretty heavenly to me. :) At $60 for 12 sets, this is also more affordable than the recently popular Le Metier de Beaute option, and that is pretty exciting too!

koh gen do macro vintage stretch eye sheet tray

The "eye sheets" themselves come in a little tray that helps keep the emollient material in the cloth. The shape of the cloth was unusual to me at first, and it took me a minute to think about how it should fit on my face! (Lol, I have spacial issues sometimes!) So, instead of trying to describe how to apply the shape to your eyes, I've included the "How To" from Koh Gen Do's website. (Do check it out, they do have a whole eye routine that looks really wonderful!)

So anyways, once I figured out how to apply this mask, I wore it for about 20 minutes even though the instructions say 10.  When I removed the mask, my eyes felt very moisturized and firm. I imagine for those who are concerned about sagging or loss of elasticity, this would do wonders.

What I was really excited to see was that the corners of my eyes were lifted!! SERIOUSLY! The outer corners of my eyes definitely droop downwards, but after this mask, no more downward droops!! Out of the blue, my boyfriend even told me my eye area was glowy and soft!

Based on the moisture and lift, I would definitely use this mask again. I haven't tried much in the realm of eye masks, but this one is such an affordable luxury in comparison to other high end skincare brands on the market. I've felt nothing but love for the other Koh Gen Do products I've tried, so I do urge you to give this a try!!

Sampling Koh Gen Do

December 2, 2012

Sometime in June, I stopped by a Koh Gen Do counter at Barney's and received these generous samples from the SA there. I fell in love with the Brightening Spa Moisture Mask early on, and I really enjoyed these samples as well.

I apologize for the old photo, but I hope it is not too bothersome. :)

Oriental Plants Clean Foam ($45 for 3.53 oz) I haven't used this too many times yet, but I was surprised to find that it has a balmy texture. I've never tried any of the cleansing balms that are out there, but I imagine this would have a similar feel. This cleanser was really smooth going on, and didn't dry out my skin. It is a bit more money than I would want to spend, but I think I would consider it as a future cleanser option.

Oriental Plants Essence II ($126 for 1.35 oz) I really enjoyed this light, clear serum, and the price is just making me want to cry. It gives my skin a really nice layer of hydration, and was enough for my normal to dry skin in the Bay Area over the summer. Now in the winter in Chicago, I would have to use this a serum, but it is really quite nice! I wish I could buy this, but it is just too pricey and I'll have to investigate other serums out there!

Oriental Plants Milky Lotion ($84 for 3.38 oz) This is a really nice light lotion, yet it also gives me enough moisture in this winter weather! Wohoo! This really made my skin feel hydrated as winter was setting in, and that is a remarkable feat! Again, the price scares me away a bit, but I would definitely consider this as a future moisturizer option.

Aqua Foundationin PK-1 ($62 for 1.01 oz) I love the light feel of this foundation, and it really gives your skin some radiance. I love the really light and natural finish of this as well. I prefer foundations with more yellow in them, so PK-1 wasn't quite the right shade for me. However, it did match my skintone pretty well, except for that tinge of pink that I don't prefer. If OC-1 or OC-2 is just a little bit more yellow, then it would be a great foundation! This is definitely on my list for a future purchase, if the shades work.

Oriental Plants Emollient Cream ($123 for 1.06 oz) When I tried this in California, it felt too heavy for daily wear. The texture is quite light and nice, and now that it is winter, it gives me a great amount of moisture! This feels great around my eyes, but again is too pricey. Sad!

Maifanshi Moisture Foundation in 113 and 123 ($62 for .71 oz) I typically don't like foundations marketed for moisture, but this one has such a natural finish! As expected, I need to work quickly to blend it in - I usually put foundation all over my face and blend, but with this I start with a specific area. The shade 123 works for me almost perfectly this winter too.

I love Koh Gen Do's Cleansing Spa Water, which manages to calm redness and even my complexion. I really wish these other products weren't so pricey! At the moment, Koh Gen Do has some great holiday gift sets available on their website, including the foundations and Oriental Plants skincare. I definitely plan to repurchase the Cleansing Spa Water, and pick up the Brightening Spa Moisture Mask, perhaps at the next Barney's Beauty Event! I'm seriously tempted to grab one of the foundations and splurge on one of the skincare items!

What do you think of Koh Gen Do? Are any of these products catching your eye? :)

First Impression: Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water

November 24, 2011

During the Sephora VIB Sale, I decided to pick up Koh Gen Do's Cleansing Spa Water. I've read great reviews of Koh Gen Do products, so I wanted to try something from the brand - I wasn't thrilled with the removers that I have at home, so I thought this would be a great option!

I finally unpacked this today, and I was really excited to try it out! So far I really like it!

It's not oily and doesn't have a scent, which were two things I really wanted in a remover. I like the bottle design because it holds the product in and prevents you from spilling or applying too much. (The open bottle style of Lancome Bi-Facil, for example, is a bit prone to oversaturation and spilling for me!)

I didn't have to saturate an entire cotton pad, and was able to remove both eyes with less effort than other removers I've used. At $39 for 10.15 oz (vs Lancome BI-Facil's 4.2 oz for $26) is a much better value for me, especially when on sale!
