Waxalene: The All Purpose Wonder Balm

It was about a year ago when I first read about Waxalene on Genuine Glow, but I've wanted to try it ever since. I bought a jar a few months back, and then shortly after, Waxalene reached out to me to try out their new lip balm size!

waxalene review, natural petroleum jelly alternative

Slathering Waxalene on my dry patches takes me back to the days when my mom would give me Vaseline for those troublesome chapped spots, but in a much nicer, green way. All 4 ingredients in Waxalene (yes, FOUR!) are Non-GMO, and the product itself contains no petroleum products and is not tested on animals.

This stuff is a dream for a dry skinned gal like me. I'm appalled to say that due to poor moisturizing habits, parts of my legs still really haven't recovered from the horrible cold winter we had in Chicago. Every time I apply Waxalene to those awkward dry patches, my skin improves. Waxalene does say that this is good for eczema and psoriasis, but I haven't been able to test it out for that. I think it would be perfect for those chapped noses after a terrible cold season, or on dry/cracking skin - for sure a great petroleum jelly alternative!

This works really well on my chapped lips, and seems to keep them from getting any more chapped, which is always a good thing for me. It is safe to say that Waxalene is among my top lip balm picks. (Gasp!) I'm thinking my cuticles could use a dose of this, and I may just take a closer look at the other suggested ways to use Waxalene!

I didn't realize at first, but the lip balm size contains the exact same formula as the regular size tubs of Waxalene. The product itself is quite creamy, and reminds me of partially melted butter. (You know when you melt it, and then it starts to harden again? Or am I the only weird one who spends so much time with butter?) It is almost scent free, and isn't sticky to use.

I purchased my tub of Waxalene at Spirit Beauty Lounge, but it is also available at Whole Foods and a few other retailers. The lip balm size comes in right around $4, and I've been toting it around with me everywhere all month. Even the largest size comes in at around $18, which to me makes Waxalene a great all purpose product to have around!

What do you think about Waxalene? Have you tried it, and if so, what do you use it for? I'd love to know!

Radical Skincare Advanced Peptide Antioxidant Serum

Radical Skincare is one of those brands I've always been curious about, but also avoided because of the high price tag. When I was given the opportunity to try out their new(ish) Advanced Peptide Antioxidant Serum, I jumped at the chance. My often dehydrated skin can always benefit from a serum!

This serum is relatively light, and very much conventional in texture. I do have to note that this serum is lightly fragranced and that scent to me is a very traditional floral that may be hit or miss.

In terms of results, I do feel like this serum keeps my skin looking even, and I can often use this without any additional layers without feeling dehydrated. For me, that is a big deal, as it has been over a year since I've been able to feel hydrated with only one layer of product. My preference, however, is still to layer another moisturizing product on top.

At this price point, I can't fully recommend that you purchase this very pricey serum since I can't speak to the anti-aging aspects. Perhaps I'll have someone try it out, and report back! As it is, it has functioned just fine for me with no adverse reactions in the weeks that I have used it.

What do you think about this serum from Radical Skincare? Is it something you would splurge on? Do you have any recommendations from the brand? I'd love to know!

Sweeten Your Skin with Lush Brazened Honey

A few months back, I was totally loving Lush's Catastrophe Cosmetic (review), and when I finished that mask, I knew I had to try another. It was hard to choose, but I thought Brazened Honey would be a great choice to try!

lush brazened honey fresh face mask review

For fans of Lush, this mask has a honey-floral scent that is vaguely reminiscent of one of their other products. I can't recall which - perhaps the Fair Trade Honey Shampoo? The mask's texture is a bit crumbly, and as it dries down, it definitely hardens like a conventional clay mask.

Though it is meant for oily and congested skin, this seems to really cleanse the skin in a gentle way. My skin is normal, though perhaps very slightly dehydrated, and I did not feel dry or stripped at all from using this. As you rinse off the mask, it really helps to exfoliate too!

I am getting pretty close to having another 5 Lush pots to trade in for a mask, and I think I will try Oatifix next! What do you think of Lush's Fresh Face Masks? Do you have a favorite that I should try? I'd love to know!

Blueberries for Your Face: Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic

We all know that blueberries are good for you, but Lush Cosmetics has now taught me that blueberries are good for my face too!

I've been meaning to properly try out the face masks from Lush for a while, so I recently traded in 5 of my empty Lush pots for their Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask.

Meant to soothe the skin, this creamy mask contains the previously mentioned blueberries as well as chamomile and calamine. I love the almost whipped texture of this mask, which also smells lightly of blueberries. It is easy to wash off, and it leaves my skin feeling smooth and looking even toned. It doesn't feel drying either, and is meant for all skin types.

My fiance and his mom also tried this mask, and both of them enjoyed it as well. I do have to say that I saw remarkable results when my fiance applied this mask after shaving in lieu of aftershave. No redness or post-shave irritation to be seen, and everyone reported less redness overall!

For those new to Lush, their face masks are freshly made in stores and as a result are not available online. They retail for $6.95, though you can trade in 5 empty Lush pots for a face mask in store. It is also important to note that these masks need to be refrigerated and expire within a few weeks of your purchase, so be sure to plan ahead.

I definitely plan to get this mask again and look forward to trying other masks from Lush. Have you tried any of Lush's Fresh Face Masks? Do you have a favorite mask that I should try? I'd love to know!
