Products That Didn't Work For Me, #7

I've always been a bit obsessed with trying new things, and inevitably that means some products don't end up working for me. For the most part, these disappointing products are good ones, but they're just not quite right for me. Check out my previous posts in this category here.

Chanel Rouge Double Intensite in Pink Twist
This shade was in the Spring collection and did not arrive at counters with the rest of the collection. I ordered it sight unseen, and the color was just appalling on me. This pale peachy pink is full of glitter, and it just looked terrible on my dryness prone lips. Back to the store it goes!

Burberry Eye Definer in Midnight Black
Gummy gifted me this and I want to love it so badly. I love the liner's unique shape (it's rectangular!) and how precise a point it comes to. It is a very natural black, but unfortunately my Asian eyes are no match for it. It is smudgy & creasy on me, which is sad. However, if you don't have monolids/hooded eyes this may work very well for you. The precise point allows me to get a very fine line and I can get this liner very nicely in between my lashes - it may work great for you!

L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in Carbon
I randomly bought this during a visit to Ulta, and while it goes on very smoothly and appears glossy and nice, I didn't love this in the end. I've been having a problem with migrating shimmers in some of my eye makeup, and the fine silver shimmers in this black liner just got on my lashes and all around my eye. The liner does crease some on me, but at it doesn't smudge! I think this is another liner that may be great for others too.

Soap & Glory Hand Food
I picked up this hand cream on a whim to try something new and it is a decently moisturizing hand cream. It has a floral and sweet scent that I attribute to the marshmallow oil, but unfortunately I find the scent to stick around and bother me. I'm very particular about scents, and this one is just a bit too artificial for my liking. If you're on the hunt for a hand cream though, it wouldn't hurt to give this a try!

In the end, I plan to take all of these products back and save my pennies for something else. Have you tried any of these products? How did they fare for you? Did any products disappoint you these last few weeks? I'd love to know!

Products That Didn't Work For Me, #6

At the end of last month, I posted about a few products that I had bought and returned because they didn't work for me. This month, I have a few more - it is almost a relief after all that shopping in November and December that I can return a few of these.

I don't think any of these items this time around are bad products, but there are a few that aren't the shades for me.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Long Lasting Eye Pencil in Salome
I love the dark blue based black of this liner, and I love how creamy and soft it is to apply. However, this one irritates my eyes like many other liners have been lately, and it also smudges on my monolid area after a few hours. Sad!

BareMinerals Round the Clock Eyeliner in 5PM
I actually LOVE this formula - it is so long wearing even on my monolid and it doesn't irritate my eyes. However, this purple shade makes my eyes look TIRED and I've already exchanged for the black one. :)

Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow
I was really excited to try this, but unfortunately this shade doesn't show up on me at all. The formula seems decent, though not as creamy as something like Stila Convertible Color. I can't speak to how it wears over time either, but I do want to try Illamasqua's cream blushes eventually!

Dolce & Gabbana Nail Polish in Dahlia
This seems like a nice formula and I'm curious to try more shades, but this particular shade is more brown based that I was hoping for. I'm looking for a deep red that is almost black - any recommendations? EDIT: The color did look more up my alley later in better lighting, so I'm keeping this one and giving it a proper go. :)

Givenchy Le Rouge in 206 Rose d'Exception
I love the packaging on this but the color is way too cool toned on my lips. It just looks like a bad 90's pink lipstick on me haha. The formula does seem creamy and nice, so I will definitely look at other shades of this eventually!

Stila Artful Eye Volume II
This looked like a nice little palette that Sephora offered for $10 on Black Friday, but the texture just isn't all that smooth and I'm not finding the colors terribly pigmented. Considering I'd probably never end up using it, I'd rather have my $10!

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask
I got this in a kit last winter and while I love the Ultra Repair Cream, I just don't find myself getting excited about this one. It smells a bit like oatmeal cookies, which is fun, but it almost feels like cookie dough in texture too? All of that is ok, but it isn't terribly hydrating on my dehydrated skin. Darn!

All in all, I'm happy I can return most of these and get my money back. :) Have you tried any of these products? How did they work for you?

Products That Didn't Work for Me, #5

You may have noticed that I've been doing a lot of purchasing lately, and not every purchase has been successful. Today I wanted to show you guys a few of the products that I'm sending back - two that just aren't "me" and one that just didn't really do the job.

Josie Maran Bear Naked Nail Wipes
I think I ordered this to have enough in my shopping cart for a promo code I wanted (Sephora gets me every time!) but I have to say these nail polish remover wipes were terrible. I love the idea of nail polish wipes containing argan oil that also support polar bears, but seriously, this was rough. For one, it was so hard to even separate the individual wipes - I ended up using like THREE at once without even realizing. I am so stingy when it comes to product usage (lol) so that in itself horrifies me, though I could maybe put up with it if it removed polish well. But it doesn't!!! I think I managed like 2 nails with one wipe, and it was a bit of work even to do that. I'd rather just walk around with horribly chipped nail polish, LMAO! I returned these right away, and ordered the Priti NYC ones. :)

L'artisan Parfumeur Travel Spray Gift Set
I picked up this set of travel sprays during the Sephora VIB sale because it was such a good deal! I haven't tried L'artisan before, though I had sniffed a few scents that weren't really me. I took a chance in ordering this, and sadly I ended up taking it back. La Chasse Aux Papillons (a light floral) and Nuit de Tubereuse (a deeper floral) were my favorite of the bunch, but I could tell that I wouldn't love them on me without even spraying them on. Premier Figuier reminded me of Diptyque Philosykos which I'm not really into, and Mure et Musc seemed nice too. If you're a fan of L'artisan Parfumeur and/or aren't as picky and sensitive about scents as I am, I urge you to try this out. At $60, this gift set is a great value and a great introduction to the brand!

Anastasia Covet Waterproof Eyeliner Set
I decided to order this set of eyeliners one day since they were such a good value at $28 and I had read some positive reviews on it. Unfortunately, my sensitive monolid eyes aren't a fan. I only tried the shade Steel, a nice gray, and in an hour and a half it was already creased in my monolid. Sad. Application wise, this liner wasn't as creamy as I prefer, but it also didn't drag or anything, so that was nice. I can't tell for sure if it irritates my eyes like many waterproof liners seem to, but my eyes did feel a bit itchy and my nose was runny. (Gosh, why are my reactions to eyeliner sometimes like... hayfever? LOL)  I can't decide if I should even bother trying the other shades, or if I should just return it...

All in all, I can't recommend the Josie Maran nail wipes, but think that both the Anastasia liners and L'artisan gift sets could be great gifts this holiday season. What do you think - have you tried any of these products? How did they work for you? I'd love to know!
