In late summer, I was getting tired of battling the tangles in my hair. Yes, I could probably shampoo and condition better and they'd be all sorted out, but lazy beauty girl that I am, I went on the search for that miracle detangling tool. Having read so much about the Tangle Teezer and the Wet Brush over the years, I decided to give them both a try.
The Wet Brush, $5-14
Intended for wet or dry hair, the Wet Brush looks like your typical brush but is designed with special bristles made to detangle any hair type. I'm not a brush connoisseur (actually, I've spent most of my life using combs!) so to me, it looks like any other brush. However, similar to all brushes, on my fine hair, it just doesn't seem to go through it! While the Wet Brush performs better than brushes I've tried in the past, I don't find it to help with detangling at all. What am I missing?
I also should point out that I have the mini size, in case that makes a difference. I find it handy to tote around, but I do think that those with thick or long hair may find this difficult to hold for a regular brushing routine.
Tangle Teezer, $13-20
Something about the Tangle Teezer really works for me. Its fine bristles makes me think that the Tangle Teezer is a comb-brush hybrid, and it seriously works some detangling magic. Not only does it work out the knots in my hair, but it somehow makes my hair look straight and "done" even when I've done nothing to it. Even better, it makes for a great tool to tease and give volume to my hair!
My one and only gripe with this product is that I can't quite figure out why there is a range of price points. Sephora carries it for $20 and Space NK carries what appears to be the same product for $13... It just doesn't make sense! It is also available at the lower price point at Target! Anyway, I'm loving it and reach for it almost daily.
Have you tried the Wet Brush or the Tangle Teezer? How did they work out for you? What do you use to detangle your hair?
