Last week, I was lucky to experience a blowpro blowout at the Stylebar at Nordstrom. I've always been particularly interested in Nordstrom's spa services, and this location not only does nails, etc, but has an Anastasia Brow Bar and blowpro and other hairstyling services.
Sarah, the lovely girl who did my hair, walked me through the different blowout options. I chose the "Volume" option, and she customized the products she used for my hair type and look. I liked that their products were sulfate/paraben/sodium-chloride free, and a number of them contain a proprietary blend of proteins to strengthen and thicken up the hair.
First, she gave my hair a nice wash with their volumizing shampoo, and then gave it a good spritz with the Heat Is On Protective Daily Primer. She explained that blowpro blowouts always start at the front, and also asked me about my usual part so she could follow that in her styling.
As she started blow drying, she worked in some of the Body by Blow Volumizing Mousse, a super light and airy product that didn't feel sticky or crunchy. After she worked through all of my layers with the blow dryer, we looked at the specific areas that needed volume. She teased the hair at the top of my head, and then wowed me with just how much volume the Textstyle Dry Texture Spray gave with only a spritz. (Seriously, it was amazing.) Finally, she topped it off with a bit of the Blow Out Spray, so my blowout would last.
Check out the results!
After my blowout, I ended up purchasing the amazing Textstyle Dry Texture Spray, as well as the Blowout Care Kit with the dry shampoo and shower cap. (Sarah had shown me the dry shampoo because it is one of their best sellers.) I particularly liked that it is scent free and didn't leave any white residue despite being a powder! The dry shampoo is available individually as well, but I don't actually have a shower cap, so I figured I would indulge. You can also use the cute shower cap on the soft, terry cloth side for hair treatments!
What I was really impressed with was that NONE of the products left any residue in my hair, and that my second day hair was just as clean as the first. Given that there were FOUR products in my hair, I thought that was really impressive, since some shampoos alone cause my hair to look oily on the second day. I also really loved how my hair had great volume and movement to it!
The pricing seems impossible to find online, but if I remember correctly, the classic blowout goes for $30 and is available at a few Nordstrom locations (Oakbrook, The Grove, & Newport Beach).
In any event, I loved the results I had, and am inspired to make more of an effort on my hair at home! Have you tried blowpro or had a blowout before? Or... are you just totally awesome at doing your own hair? :-P I'd love to know!
