♡ Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder & Creamy Glow Duo

Earlier this year, I totally fell in love with Kevyn Aucoin's Sculpting Powder. It is a product I've wanted for years, but whenever I swatched it, I didn't think it would be quite right for me. Boy, was I wrong!

Initially, I thought that the Sculpting Powder would be a little to pale for my skin tone, but it is really quite perfect. I think this would work for skin tones a few shades darker than mine (I'm about NC35 during the summer), and for most skin tones lighter than mine as well. Do note that it does appear a bit lighter in the photo above than it is in real life.

The powder itself is very soft and fine, much like the Celestial Powder in Candlelight, and both wear quite well. I find it to be quite cool toned, which really helps to create a nice contour. Compared to the sculpting shade in The Creamy Glow Duo, you can definitely see in the swatches below that the powder is much cooler than the cream version.

For those of you who love cream blushes, I would definitely check out The Creamy Glow, which comes in single blush formulas as well as duos. The texture is very creamy and smooth, much like Stila Convertible Colors, but without any stickiness. It is also not cream to powder, so I'm not sure if the longevity would work for those who live in hot climates or have oily skin. On my normal to dry skin type, this Creamy Glow Duo seems to last 6-8 hours on me, which generally works just fine.

In terms of highlighting, I can totally see what the hype is about when it comes to the Celestial Powder. The texture is so fine, and the glow is very natural. If I really want to highlight my cheekbones, I would choose something else (Jouer Creme Highlight in Tiare, I think) but this powder is definitely my pick when I want the look to be natural. I feel quite similar about the creamy version too!

All in all, I prefer the Sculpting Powder for a nice contour, though The Creamy Glow Duo is quite perfect for the summer. I wore the Sculpting Powder in this video and the Creamy Glow Duo in this video. Have you tried any of these products? Can you pick a favorite? I'd love to know!

The Minimal Overnight Bag

I'm a girl that does not like to leave products behind, so when I packed a bag this past week to stay over at my parents' house, it was quite a feat to arrive there with a bare minimum of beauty products in my bag.

Normally, I don't really care about what shampoo I use, but lately I've been addicted to Phyto's Phytoneutre Clarifying Detox Shampoo. I didn't use it for a month, and I noticed a difference in how my scalp felt and as soon as I started using it again, I was happy. I love how this minty fresh shampoo seems to keep my scalp balanced!

In the event that I wore some makeup (I often keep a little in my purse just in case), I had to bring along my Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water (review). I always use it to remove makeup, but even occasionally use it when I am too lazy to wash my face properly with Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil (review). Love that stuff.

In terms of moisturizing, I love African Botanics Neroli Marula Oil (review) and Lush Celestial (review) - it is the perfect combination right now, though each by itself seems to work for my skin in this hot weather too. And last but not least, I brought my wooden comb that I always use when I manage to properly brush my hair.

What are your overnight bag bare essentials? I'd love to know!

The Makeup Show: Thoughts & Purchases!

Last weekend, Gummy and I attended The Makeup Show in Chicago! I've always wanted to attend, and this year we finally decided that we just had to go. We were both super excited to see Charlotte Tilbury and Hakuhodo in person, and I think we had a great day of shopping overall!

Check out this video to hear more about our trip and see what I ended up buying!

Summer Candle Must Have

While I may be the crazy one still burning Diptyque Feu de Bois over here, I’m definitely appreciating the fresher scents now that it looks like summer is finally here.

One of my favorite candles year round is the Capri Blue Volcano, widely available at Anthropologie. I've seriously been obsessed with this candle for about 3 years now. Not only is this candle nearly on par with high end brands in terms of burn quality and scent throw, it comes in at $28 a pop. Smaller and larger (huge!) sizes are available as well, but seriously - I can't get enough of this in the summer time!

This particular size has a burn time of 85 hours and is a perfect blend of fresh citrus yumminess. Here's how Anthropologie describes the scent - Volcano: tropical fruits, sugared oranges, lemons, and limes, redolent with lightly exotic mountain greens

I love it, and I can't think of a better citrus candle for summer. FYI, if you love the smell of Anthropologie, this candle is what the stores frequently burn. Also, if you sign up for their rewards program, you receive a 15% off coupon during the month of your birthday!

What candles are you burning this summer? I'd love to know!
