This year, I thought I would keep the resolutions as simple as possible. I've already set out guidelines for spending less, and we've discussed on multiple occasions that I desperately need to wash my face before bed every night. I want to do everything possible to wear makeup more often and then share that with you in some look posts. I have some ideas that I'm excited about, so hopefully that will all work out! Last but not least, I really want to focus on making this blog bigger and better! :) Happy New Year! I'd love to know what your resolutions are, if you've made any for the year! :)
Brands I Want More of in 2013!
There are TONS of brands that I've had limited (or no) exposure to, and I really want to get my hands on more in 2013... I keep hearing great things about Tatcha skincare from blogs like Messy Wands and Cafe Makeup. I'm definitely curious! I tried a sample of Chantecaille Just Skin, and I'm totally itching to try more of the line, such as the Radiant Gel Bronzer, Eyeshadow in Sel, and Gel Eyeliner Pencil. When it comes to candles, Diptyque has been so popular. My last experience with Diptyque, aside from sniffing the candles at Bloomingdales, was in college, so I'd love to revisit the brand again.
I love cream products, so I'm super curious about RMS. I want to get my hands on the Eyeshadow, Un-Coverup, and Living Luminizer. Ren Glycolactic Peel has been so popular this year that I definitely want to give it a proper try, not just from a sample packet, and Sunday Riley breathable foundations sound really intriguing.
By Terry is so popular among bloggers too, and I'm dying to try it out. I ordered a few lipsticks and Bronze Opulent from the amazing Space NK sale (affiliate link) and I'm anxious for them to arrive. I'm also curious about the foundation lineup and Touche Veloutee... Omorovicza is getting some great coverage as well, and I'm quite curious about their pricey BB cream. Kevyn Aucoin... I've debated a number of items from the line this year, but just haven't bit the bullet. I think I'll keep debating the Sculpting Powder but really want to grab the Sensual Skin Balm and Creamy Glow in Liquifuschia.
Now I've raved about nearly everything I've tried from Koh Gen Do, and I'd love to move away from the sample packets and get products of my own. I'd love to pick up a foundation, the Brightening Spa Moisture Mask, and whatever other goodies I can manage to afford. I also want to try some Edward Bess! I bought a Quad Royale in early 2012, but ended up returning it - I suppose I was in one of my minimalist phases... And last but not least, I'd love to get my hands on more Hourglass! Love the packaging and product line, but for whatever reason, I don't have any of the products at the current moment! I just need the perfect shade of eyeshadow, those liquid lipsticks, and the Superficial Bronzer!
Do you have any must haves from these brands? Are there brands you're dying to try or own in 2013? I'd love to know! :)
2013 Spending Limits
I have some pretty lofty goals when it comes to spending in 2013. I'm scared... But, it will all be worth it, as my boyfriend and I have a lot of saving up to do...
No lipstick or eyeshadow. Can I put qualifiers on this and say that Burberry is allowed? Lol, well, maybe. In any event, I would love if I could use up at least one of each product category in 2013, though I'm doubtful!
No nail polish, but now that I'm thinking about it, I want to try Deborah Lippmann & new all the new drugstore gel polish options. Groan.
No fragrance, unless I can get through all the samples I have. This sounds hard... $25 monthly budget until at least March or possibly my birthday in June. I've managed it in 2012 with limited success, so who knows! Like before, I am allowed to grab from other budget areas. I already know that the Barney's Beauty Event in February will tempt me, but maybe I can wait till September...?!
Use skincare deluxe samples before buying more skincare. This is a scary thought, but I really need to minimize my stash of sample products. I probably have a year's worth of cleansers! I want to make a good effort at finishing them, and may need to take a page out of Liz's book and count my empties! :)
I just need to constantly remind myself of why I'm saving, and plan my purchases even more carefully than ever. Maybe even put a reminder post it on my credit card lol!
What do you think of my spending limits for 2013? Have you banned yourself from anything? Do you have tips to share? :)
2012 & December Resolution Recap
Can you guys believe it is the end of 2012?! I sure can't! It has seriously snuck up on me! Here's a look at my resolutions for 2012. ALWAYS wash my face before falling asleep! Or at least use a makeup wipe! So... I have to admit, I'm still pretty terrible in this area. I do manage to use a wipe most nights, but yeah, in general, I am not good about washing my face. Wish the sink was by my bed, LOL!
Drink more water! I definitely succeeded in this one, YAY! I have fewer headaches, and feel better overall.
Accomplish at least one beauty challenge or no buy in the year. So I didn't accomplish full on no buys, but I definitely managed a few limited buys and a few weeks of no buys. Better than nothing!
Keep makeup area clean and organized Yeah... I still need to work on this. I think a weekly cleanup is what would really help make me stay organized, as things seem to pile up during the week.
Use as much of my collection as possible! Not as much as I would have hoped, but better than 2011.
Try some new brands (even though this wonβt help with using up what I have!) Edward Bess, Jouer, and Hourglass are top brands on my list.Burberry and Le Metier de Beaute too! I fell in love with Burberry and Jouer, and definitely want more Hourglass. I need to take a better look at Edward Bess & Le Metier de Beaute!
Continue giving drugstore brands a chance! I definitely tried more drugstore stuff this year, and found some new favorites too! Wohoo!
So now you may remember that I gave myself some pretty ambitious resolutions for the month of December too...
While I started off the month strong, I definitely didn't manage to blog daily as exhaustion and the holidays caught up with me. I did manage to wear makeup almost everyday - I've only fallen off the boat since Christmas, and I wore perfume a handful of times too. Most importantly, while I did spend a bit on beauty, I did manage to spend less and I think almost stay within budget!
So, how do you think I did? How did you do on your resolutions this year?? I'd love to know! :)
