Pink Gloss Comparisons: Burberry, Dior & Jouer

Over the weekend, I posted about a few items from Dior's Spring 2014 collection. I snapped up the Dior Addict Lip Gloss in Exquise, and then realized I should compare it to a few other pink glosses in my stash! So much pink! <3

Swatches Top to Bottom: Burberry Lip Glow in Pink Sweet Pea, Dior Addict Lip Gloss in Exquise, Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Malibu

It turns out that Burberry Lip Glow in Pink Sweet Pea is remarkably similar to Dior Addict Lip Gloss in Exquise! While Burberry Pink Sweet Pea has a purply iridescence to it, I still think that Dior Exquise is really very similar based on swatches. On my lips though, I find that the blue/purple undertones of Burberry Pink Sweet Pea come out, and the shade is slightly more opaque than Dior Exquise.

Lastly, I just wanted to show you guys Dior Exquise compared to Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Malibu. In the tube, it looks very similar, but the difference in formula is very apparent once you see the swatch. Jouer's gloss is very sheer in comparison!

All three formulas are not drying - potentially hydrating for those of you without dry lip issues - and only Burberry's is scented. Burberry Pink Sweet Pea was a limited edition release last spring, but I think Dior Exquise is a great option too. I think i may actually prefer Dior! What do you think about these three pink glosses? Which would you pick? I'd love to know!

My Picks From Dior Spring 2014

I'm all for pinks in springtime, so I was thrilled to see some fun releases in the Dior Spring collection. I can't resist a hot pink gloss, so i picked up the Addict Gloss in 772 Exquise and the Fusion Matte Mono Eyeshadow in 761 Mirage.

When it comes to the gloss, I can't believe I hadn't tried these before. I love the scent-free, non-drying formula, and this pink shade is pink without being so in your face. It is entirely wearable, and I am happy to report that the color doesn't horrify me when it transfers!

The eyeshadow, on the other hand, is a bit confusing to me. The name of the product says it is matte, but there is actually shimmer in this one. A very fine shimmer that I find pretty, but it is definitely not matte. Having never tried these eyeshadows before (they all seemed too shimmery for me before!), I really quite like the soft, almost spongy texture of these shadows. Sadly, this doesn't wear too well on me without primer - it fades and creases a bit with some shimmer migrating by lunchtime. With primer, this eyeshadow is a great everyday color, either by itself or for blending with other shades. I'm just a little depressed that I have to wear primer with it, and I'm not sure how to feel about that...

Here's how these look on me. What do you think? Sorry I had to resort to this photo - I can't seem to catch the sun at all lately! And my skin is not so cute but I'm too lazy to put on concealer haha!

In the end, I think I've decided to return the eyeshadow. If I don't entirely love it, I think there's no point in keeping it! I also plan to do a comparison post of a few pink glosses later in the week. :)

Have you picked up anything from the Dior Spring 2014 collection? I'd love to know what you got and how they worked out for you!Β

Shadow Stick Comparisons: Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, & By Terry

In 2013, I really got into eyeshadow sticks. I had always liked them, but 2013 was a year to really try some of the most popular ones out there from Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, and By Terry.

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Bark, $28
I picked this one up during the Sephora VIB sale and I am glad I did. This nearly matte medium brown is a great shade for everyday looks, and it wears all day on me without fading or creasing. I'm definitely going to look at more shades in the line!

By Terry Ombre Blackstar Color Fix Cream Eyeshadow in Bronze Moon, $43
Lots of bloggers rave about these By Terry Ombre Blackstar sticks, so I caved and bought one for myself. In general, I found these to be more metallic than the Bobbi Brown or Laura Mercier options. There's not a "matte" shade in the lineup at all! Unfortunately for me, I have a problem with the shimmers in this one. They just keep migrating and getting in my eyes and lashes! At the end of the day, this fades a bit and creases on me, but not enough for me to be upset about it - and really, it could be a result of the irritation from the shimmers rather than the product's overall performance.

Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Stick in Khaki, $26
I have been building my collection of these sticks for the year, and perhaps I have too many now, haha! I love the variety of colors available in this line, and I've been using Khaki non-stop all year! I love how easy to use it is, and it is budgeproof on me all day, though occasionally I see very very minor creasing in my monolid area. (You know, when you can tell it isn't perfect but really no one else can!)

I can't pick a favorite, but it definitely comes down to Laura Mercier or Bobbi Brown for overall value and shades available. Their formulas are so long wearing, and I don't even need to wear primer with them unless I want to. I really like how the Laura Mercier range has a variety of more shimmery finishes and less shimmery ones and so many colors to choose from. I'm bummed the By Terry Bronze Moon didn't work for me, but I think perhaps Laura Mercier Sandglow or Bobbi Brown Sand Dune might be comparable shades.

What do you think about eye shadow sticks? Have you tried any of these or have a favorite one I need to try? I'd love to know what you think! :)

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation Review & Demo

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is definitely a popular one amongst bloggers, and strangely enough, as a result of the hype, it took me a long time to actually try it! I always knew I liked the texture based on checking it out at the counter, but I never felt like I had to have it. After trying a sample this past Spring, I ended up buying this for myself as a birthday gift over the summer.

Yes, my birthday is at the beginning of June, and I'm only reviewing this now... That's just how things go sometimes over here! I ended up using this foundation quite a bit (for me) in November, AND included it in my November Favorites, so I thought it was about time to share my thoughts on it.

Watch the video below to hear my thoughts on it and see it in action! :) Have you tried this foundation? I'd love to know!

Here's a look at Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. I am using shade #6 and I've applied it both with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and my new BeautyBlender. Hope it was helpful!
