Smooth Your Skin with La Roche Posay Anthelios 50 Daily Anti-Aging Primer!

September 20, 2012

A few months ago, I happened upon this primer from La Roche Posay. I believe it came out for summer, and I'm definitely glad that I got it! Active Ingredients: Avobenzone 3% (sunscreen)--Homosalate 10% (suncreen)--Octisalate 5% (sunscreen)--Octocrylene 5% (sunscreen)--Oxybenzone 6% (sunscreen).Inactive Ingredients: Dimethicone, C12-15 alkyl benzoate, talc, diisopropyl sebacate, silica silylate, glycerin, trimethylsiloxysilicate, dimethicone crosspolymer, water, diethylhexyl sryingylidenemalonate, cassia alata leaf extract, maltodextrin.

I know that for some of you, the ingredients may not be appropriate for your needs. (I'm sorry! :() However, I am happy to report that this product didn't cause any adverse reactions for my skin AND prevented sunburn on my face all summer in California.

For reference, I have normal, sometimes combination skin. I don't break out much anymore, but do get the occasional hormonal pimples or ones from (GASP) being too lazy to wash my face at night. I was able to use this primer instead of moisturizer most of the summer, though there were days that I needed just a bit more moisture to really feel like I had moisturized properly.

Here's a look at the texture of the product. I'm not sure how to describe it really - it has a thick, creamy, almost waxy texture, but not in a bad way!

Here's what it looks like once I've started to smooth out that small dot of product. Once blended, I did not experience any whiteness, and it helped to smooth out lines and the texture of my skin.

I don't typically like primers because of how they react to different foundations, and it was really the idea of an Anthelios SPF product that initially drew me in. So, with low expectations of this working with foundations, I decided that I'd be happy using it for the SPF and anti-aging benefits if it didn't work out as a primer! However, I'm really excited to report that I have had no issues with all the foundation products I've used with it so far! (Nars Tinted Moisturizer, Garnier BB Cream, Maybelline BB Cream) YAY! All in all, I love this product - it really is a multipurpose product for me. Unless something better comes along, I will continue to use it and repurchase it!

What I Love: - SPF 50, always a necessity! - Provides some moisture, so if I'm in a rush or don't feel dry, I don't need an additional product - Anti-aging claims are quite intriguing - Perfect with all of the foundation products I've used with it so far!

What do you think? Have you tried La Roche Posay Anthelios 50 Daily Anti-Aging Primer? What other La Roche Posay products do you recommend? :)

Sneak Peak: Make Up For Ever 12 Flash Color Case

September 10, 2012

Over a year ago, I suddenly became very interested in the idea of mixing my own colors for products. After tons of careful research, I decided to purchase the Make Up For Ever 12 Flash Color Case. So colorful, isn't it? :) For some reason, I hesitated to use it after I first bought it. Maybe because it was so expensive (OH this is definitely my most expensive beauty item, as it now retails for $99!) or because it seemed too complicated to decide on a color and then mix it... who knows! I am weird. Haha. Only recently did I finally break this out and use it, and I am definitely enjoying it so far.

mufe flash color swatches

Look at all the pretty colors! I swatched these all very sheerly (barely even 1 swipe), so that is why the gold and silver are somewhat sheer and the black isn't 100% true black. All the shades are creamy and quite buildable for any variation of color, so I wouldn't worry about the pigmentation of any of the shades. All of the shades feel quite pigmented and a little goes a long way when it comes to mixing!

While the textures are a bit drying on my lips, it lasted a good while and didn't make my lips peel. I have not yet tested wear time on eyes or cheeks, so I will definitely update you guys when I do!  I had previously read that MUFE lists some of these shades as lip or eye only but I don't seem to be able to find that information on official sources now. (US FDA regulations or something of that nature? I don't know) So far, I do not personally find any issues with blending the separate shades or any noticeable reasons why I shouldn't.

I definitely plan to share some looks as well as color mixtures, but in the meantime, what do you think of this palette? I know it is not widely talked about on blogs, so what questions do you have about it? Is this a product you have or are interested in? :)

Review: Lush Charisma Skin Tint

September 1, 2012

Shortly after Lush launched their Emotional Brilliance makeup collection in July, I fell in love with Charisma Skin Tint! There was so much hype around the color collection that I didn't even remember that their were other items in the line. While the Feeling Younger Skin Tint  was quite a pretty white highlighter, I really enjoyed Charisma Skin Tint. After applying it in the store, even my boyfriend thought the shade was quite pretty! I was only allowed one piece from the collection, and the boyfriend promptly agreed that this should be it!

lush charisma skin tint instructions/ingredients

I love the glass jar packaging of this product - it is nice and small, and has a great weight to it. Here are the instructions and listed ingredients from the jar.

The instructions suggest mixing it in with moisturizer or Lush's Colour Supplements for foundation, but my favorite use so far has been as a contour or bronzer. You can get a better look at how this product applies and looks on my face in the following video!

Here is a quick look at how I use Lush Charisma Skin Tint! Hope it gives you an idea of what the product looks like applied! As usual, details are available on my blog bronzerbunny.com. Apologies for the background noise - I guess I forgot about this hotel AC!

Here's a closer look at the creamy, almost wet texture of Charisma Skin Tint. I find it really easy to wear, and on me it lasted the majority of the day. The color faded some after a steamy bath, so I image this may not hold up perfectly in more humid climates or on extremely oily skin. However, with the gorgeous color, I think it may be worth testing anyway!i think this shade is really gorgeous, and that the product could have a number of uses, especially if you have a too light foundation or need a bit of color. I think some of you might even be able to pull this off as an eyeshadow! :)

As you can see, a little goes a long way! I'm not sure when I'd ever run out of this, but hey, I'm happy!

Have you tried the Charisma Skin Tint or other products from Lush Emotional Brilliance? Can you think of any products like this that I need to try? :)

Review: YSL Creme de Blush #4 Audacious Orange

ysl audacious orange blush review

Earlier this summer, I suddenly became obsessed with the idea of a bright red or orange cream blush. I don't know where it started, but after extensive swatching & testing at Sephora, I landed on this orange-y red cream blush from YSL. While I'm not a huge fan of the gold packaging, I love the square pot that this comes in. I suppose I just like things that are square! Lol!

Now look at that gorgeous color! Definitely a bit scary in the pot, but oh-so-pretty once you get it on your skin! This shade is named #4 Audacious Orange, but for some reason the Sephora I went to had it labeled as #4 Bright Coral on the display. I know I have called it that in previous posts, so sorry for the confusion! I've discovered now that both Nordstrom.com and Sephora.com list it as #4 Audacious Orange, and I've looked at my packaging and it actually doesn't have a name at all! Confusing! (If you know why, please fill me in!)

At first, I had minor concerns about blending this blush - I had heard that since it was a cream to powder product, it wasn't as easy to blend as some other formulas available. That made me uncertain, as my initial test application in store hadn't been blended very well. BUT I can now chalk that up to my own impatience/sloppiness when it comes to applying products in stores.

I think this blush is a gorgeous shade of orangey-coral on my skintone, and it nearly functions as a summery contour. My light application of this lasts a good 6 hours before fading, and I imagine longer for a person with normal skin who doesn't lean on or rub their face all the time... (I know, I know, don't scold me! Lol)

Have you tried this or any other cream blush from YSL? This is definitely one of my summer favorites, and I'd love to hear what you think! :)
