Week in Review, 8/10/12

I can't believe it is August already! CRAZY. Summer is almost over! I am also going home soon, unless I manage to get an extension out here in California for work. But who knows, I think anything is possible! A bit blurry from taking this in the car one day, but I love this shot of my YSL cream blush & Guerlain Rouge Automatique! :) Will have reviews up soon for these as well!

Favorite of the Week: Too sleepy to use things this week, sadly. I don't know how you guys do it! Just Applied: Tried Hourglass cream blush/bronzer duo a few hours ago. That's definitely on the to-buy list! Purchased This Week: Got the boy some stuff at Gap (30% everything through Sunday!) Got some books/picture frames at the Alameda Antiques Fair last weekend, as well as a dress & sweater/jacket from Therapy. So far no makeup purchases for August! Limited Buy Status: Doing good - so far no beauty purchases for August!My boyfriend says my limited buy doesn't have to start officially until we go home, since we are getting all of our living expenses paid for (food, gas, etc) while we've been in California all summer. In any event, I can get one item for being good, which I've decided will be the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder. If I get an extension, he says I can get something else as a reward!

This weekend we plan to go to Yosemite and scope out the Perseid meteor shower (do check it out if you can! Supposed to be best viewing on Saturday night, at least in this area!) We also got a portable BBQ and plan to grill some stuff at the beach. SO excited, I love grilled things

This Week + Limited Buy

1) New purchases from Lush! 2) Cute little raspberry tarts from a work event. The Fray played, there were drinks, and I ate a bunch of cute food. Haha. 3) My Nuxe order arrived, wohoo! 4) Bought Milani ShadowEyez at CVS 5) OBSESSED with this candle from Anthropologie  6) Great deals on Revlon polish at CVS

Favorite of the Week: No favorites this week, just excited about all the new things! Just Removed: nothing, been laying in bed all morning Just Applied: again nothing, been laying around! Hauled This Week: Too many things! The above beauty items plus some clothing! Plotting Purchases: nothing at the moment - gonna start off a limited buy strong!

I've also finished a bottle of shampoo and body wash, which is exciting, but also sad as these and skincare seem to be the only products I ever really finish.

I am officially putting myself on a limited buy for the rest of 2012! Over the last two days, I've made quite a few purchases... not to mention over the last week or so! This is spurred by my purchase of a $200 Cole Haan jacket that I love... AHHH. In any event, here are the terms of my limited buy for the rest of the year!

Limited Buy

• Monthly Budget of $25, can roll over to next month.
• Excludes personal care items like shampoo, face wash, sunscreen, BUT can purchase only if current products run out.
• Items that are purchased can only be items on my wishlist. No purchasing random items impulsively.

The weather is gorgeous as usual, and I'm having fun exploring the Bay area. Went to the Gilroy Garlic Festival yesterday, which was fun. Going to the de Young Museum today! I also hope to share more products with you guys soon!

I can't tell you how glad I am that it's the weekend! Been so tired this past week, I don't know why really. Here's a photo of the clouds we drove through in the mountains when leaving Half Moon Bay a few weekends ago. CRAZY, right? I am also proud to report that I went to the mall TWICE yesterday and only purchased the ONE Tom Ford lipstick that I was planning to get. Yesterday was a pretty remarkable day when it came to spending, what with Sephora.com promos and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I am proud of it, and not even bummed that I didn't purchase other things I wanted! (Woo this is a total step in the right direction!)

Also hilarious, my boyfriend put on some Perricone cream at Sephora, and decided it smelled funny. The following conversation went a bit like this:

Him: This smelled funny. This brand and that one *points at Peter Thomas Roth Laser Resurfacing Peel*, their creams smell funny. Me: Ok, why did you put it on? Maybe you just shouldn't. Him: But I have to put on my creams! That one was expensive. *I start to walk away, laughing* Wait! Me: What? Him: *Grabs Lavanila rollerball and swipes across forehead.* Ok, now it smells better!

Oh boys! Gotta love them, right? At least he is now finding ways to enjoy my excessive trips to Sephora and beauty counters! I will always remember how ridiculous this incident was! LOL

I just found out that I will stay in California for another month for work, so I have plenty more time to explore and eat delicious things. (Has anyone else noticed that everything is so much fresher here? I can't believe how delicious some fruits and vegetables are... and seafood! I guess we midwesterners lose out on all this flavor!)

In beauty news, I'm currently looking forward to the Nordstrom Anniversary sale - I definitely plan to pick up a Tom Ford lipstick and maybe a few other things from my wishlist. (If I can stick to just the lipstick, then go me!) Many new things are also coming out on Sephora's website (Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Cream Compact! Benefit kits like Go Tropicoral!) to tempt me... and for some reason, I suddenly want all of these clothing items too. I've definitely got shopping on the brain this summer!

In blog news, I'm hoping to get myself organized to post more efficiently (and therefore more often!). I definitely need to explore my beauty collection and I'm having so much fun sharing it with you guys!
