I recently received a few products from Lush to test out, and I could not contain my excitement, especially around putting the products in the fridge as a nice cool-down option for summer. As I mentioned in my original post, I have always been a fan of Lush products - what I didn't mention was that my boyfriend is just as big of a fan as I am!
One of the products that has always been extremely interesting to both of us is the Whoosh Shower Jelly. He is quite intrigued by the concept of a Shower Jelly and just about any food or product that is blue, while I love the citrus scent! So we decided to give you guys a "his & hers" review of all the Lush products I received!
HIS:
Aroma: The aroma has a soft citrus scent with overtones of herbs. Definitely wakes up your nose after a whiff!
Use: This is my first time trying a shower jelly. Just the concept alone had me fascinated with it, previous trips to the Lush store left me poking at it happily, like a child with play-doh.
There are different ways to use the product. So far, I have tried using it at room temperature and lathering on body with hands, and chilled in refrigerator lathered with a wash cloth. Next, tried keeping it in the freezer. It stays the same consistency, just colder.
I enjoyed the scent and how it lathered, freezing it proved quite exhilarating for morning and post-exercise showers! One thing that I have trouble with this product is keeping a hold of it when I’m using it. What I mean by that is this stuff is slippery! Whether it’s on the washcloth, loofah, or in my hands its inevitable that chunks are going to fall to shower floor never to be used again, which made me sad to see wasted product swirl down the drain. It’s nearly impossible to pick a chunk off the shower floor after it has fallen from your grasp, I have tried.
Conclusion: I definitely plan on using more of this product in the future. Its a refreshing alternative to using a loofah and shower gel. I find my skin feeling well cleaned, and leaving only a subtle scent left on the skin through the day. If you’re looking for a great way to brighten up your shower routine try a Lush shower gel. I think its great for men and women, the scent is non-discriminatory. I have yet to try the other shower jelly Lush offers, “Sweetie Pie” yet. I will hopefully try that one next, I smelled it in the store (and of course poke tested it) and it smells like something I’d eat for dessert. Finally, if anyone has a method for not losing chunks of the product to the shower floor, please let me know!
HERS:
Aroma: I love the citrus scent of this blue jelly. It sort of reminds me of Sprite or 7Up, somehow, but I also think I am crazy. In any event, it does have a nice lemon-citrus scent.
Use: I first used this at room temperature, before I put it in the freezer. It is a fun way to brighten up your shower - it smells good, looks good, and has a fun texture! I was initially surprised that it didn't lather up a ton, but I don't know why I expected it to! When we froze it, I thought perhaps it would become a more slushy like texture, but it stayed the same. I think I'm glad the texture didn't change, because it felt great! A nice pick me up when you feel hot, that's for sure.
I also dropped many little pieces onto the floor of my shower... and the boyfriend laughed at me as I sat on the floor of my shower and tried to catch all the tiny pieces. This was actually quite hilarious, and I don't recommend that you try to catch any pieces that you drop - you will be trying to catch the slippery little suckers forever! I ended up laughing so hard I nearly cried, and I have now resigned myself to live with any pieces that I drop.
Conclusion: I enjoy this product's scent and texture, even if I feel bad dropping bits of it. If anyone has a recommendation on a better way to use this, please let us know! I also like that it can be used cold, or even mixed with a body wash. It doesn't dry my skin and cleans it well, so I think it is a great way to change up my shower routine! Though I won't use it everyday, I definitely plan to repurchase this one and add it to the rotation!
