lush halloween 2012 review

Get Yourself Some Treats from the Lush Halloween Collection!

October 13, 2012

I recently received a few items from the Lush Halloween collection, and boy am I excited! Some of you may have seen my instagram photo the other day showing a few of the items, and I have to say that they are too cute! :) Here's the photo in case you missed it!

lush jacko

Jacko Soap This seriously smells like pumpkin pie, with a cinnamon kick. Aside from cinnamon and pumpkin, the soap also has cardamom and spearmint. Since it smells like pumpkin pie, it reminds me of Thanksgiving and fall, and I don't think that I'm the only one who would enjoy that! :) The soap also seems to have some moisturizing properties, so that's been good for me so far! The soap doesn't lather much, but it still does leave me feeling clean, and fortunately I don't smell strongly of pumpkin pie afterwards. This is a great seasonal item - perfect for hostess gifts and the like!

lush enchanter bath bomb colors

The Enchanter Bath Bomb This seriously, seriously has me enchanted! The super citrus scent is just amazing, and the fizzing, wow. I love when Lush does these fun colorful bath bombs! I love the scent to death, and the bath bomb itself provides a bit of moisture to my skin. The color changing fizz also made me happy! (Also, doesn't the bath bomb look like Jupiter or something?) I'm totally buying a few of these, since it smells so good and makes me and my bathroom smell nice too! Look at all the pretty colors! :)

lush calacas shower jelly

Calacas Shower Jelly I think this shower jelly is such a clever Halloween treat! I find the shower jellies to be very fun to use in the shower, and this might just be my favorite scent yet. The lime & neroli smells quite fresh, almost like if Sprite gummy worms existed! Lol. The skull shape makes me smile, though mine has jiggled out of shape a bit.  The jelly lathers well, and having aloe vera as an ingredient should prove to be perfect for fall. I would purchase this guy as well, except that I have too many body wash items at the moment!

Other items in the Halloween collection include Twilight Shower Gel, Ghost Shower Jelly, Witch's Ball, and Something Wicked This Way Comes. The collection is available online now, and the three items I have plus Twilight Shower Gel will be available in store starting today, October 13th. Will you be picking up these or any other Lush Halloween goodies? :)

Review: Lush Lovely Jubblies

October 13, 2012

I've always been interested in trying Lush skincare, but afraid to spend the money on it, so when I received this, I was pretty excited! This particular product definitely puts a smile on my face, and I have to say that I appreciate Lush's clever/cute names!

I always used to have a hard time finding body creams, because I never liked heavy, greasy lotions that took a ton of time to rub in or absorb. Thankfully, this cream is light AND nicely moisturizing. It isn't greasy at all -  just perfectly creamy and nice, woohoo!

lush lovely jubblies

I don't know how to explain the scent - it has a strong oatmeal/cocoa butter type scent with some floral hints. I find it to be very Lush-like and I think it smells quite good!  I also think it has a surprising therapeutic effect. :) As the lotion's description suggests, the scent is definitely uplifting!

Now for the other lifting this cream should do... I'm not really sure how I can tell aside from waiting quite a long time... In a moment of panic I asked my boyfriend how I was supposed to tell if this cream worked, and he responded "Well, I guess when you're 50 we'll see how it did." LOL

Giggles aside, I think he makes a good point - I like the cream now, and only prolonged use can tell if it makes a noticeable difference! The scent itself makes it a nice overall body cream, so I'll stick to it - moisture never hurt anyone, especially going into winter! Have you tried this or any other Lush creams? :)

lush hottie massage bar

lush hottie massage bar

Relax with Lush Hottie Massage Bar!

September 9, 2012

The Lush Hottie Massage Bar is definitely one of my favorite pampering items these days. While it looks like a bar of soap, it really does have a creamy oil texture. I've really enjoyed having massages with this bar, and I think this bar may even be a good alternative to a bottle of oil for body. I'd say it takes just a bit longer to soak in than Caudalie Divine Oil, and this bar is a bit slippery once you warm it up in your hands. (Can you imagine how many laughs we've gotten as we've watched this fly out of our hands??) Anyways, I find that it is easy to use, and definitely comforting as a massage tool! Those little circular bits really help to work into the muscles, and the oil creates a nice comforting and moisturizing effect! The scent is also a light rich cocoa that is not intrusive at all, so for those of you who find some Lush scents to be overwhelming, this may work for you. All in all, I love it and I think this would also be a great item to bring along in your travel beauty kit - solid and oh so luxurious when you need to relax!

I thought I would also share my boyfriend's (hilarious) thoughts on this massage bar -

The massage bar, another one of those intriguing Lush products that I stare at every time I go into to one of their stores, this time we finally got one to try! After reading about and smelling all the massage bar offerings we decided on the Hottie. The smell is luxurious and comforting, with rich notes of cocoa, vanilla, and pepper.

Ladies first, so I gave the girlfriend a massage to test it out. The melting bar effect proved its functionality moments after being rubbed on the skin, leaving behind a glossy coating. I thought that effect was perfect for massages, I’d always imagined giving massages with oils turning out like the Chevy Chase scene in Caddyshack, oily mess everywhere. My method was to just rub the bar around the areas I planned on massaging then switch over using my hands. The residue left by the bar allowed my hands glide freely around with applied pressure without much friction to the skin, while a nice soothing aroma arose from her skin. Ok, thats enough of how it worked in practice, or else this review is going to look like an excerpt from 50 shades of grey or something...

I’d say this is a great thing for couples, its cheap, appears like it will last a lot of uses, and allows for great relaxing massages thanks to its aroma and consistency when applied to the skin. As for how the massage was you’ll have to find out in Joyce’s review on this product. One final note, I thought it was nice that product seemed to be absorbed by her skin nicely, and didn’t feel gross afterwards and in desperate need of a shower. I think we’ll be using this product a lot more in the future.

What do you think? Have you tried this or any other massage bars, from Lush or other brands?

lush dirty shaving cream

His Thoughts: Lush Dirty Shaving Cream

August 2, 2012

A few weeks ago, I hit up a Lush store to look at products and ended up grabbing a sample of the Dirty Shaving Cream. I finally got my boyfriend to try it shaving, and here are his thoughts on the product! (Note, he's forgotten that he's also tried the Art of Shaving line, lol!) I think at this point he may be a better blogger than me! Haha, please share what you think of his post or this product! :)

Photo from Lush website. See product details here.

Aroma: The scent is a milky herbal concoction. The scent can definitely be considered suitable for men and women.

Use: I have primarily used shaving foams since I started shaving as a teen. Typical shaving foams like Gillette and Barbasol, nothing fancy or different, boring I know. About a year ago Joyce convinced me to try a new shaving product when we came across C.O. Bigelow’s selection of men’s shaving products. This introduced me to benefits of trying nicer shaving products. That history aside, this Lush Dirty Shaving Cream is my first foray into the realm of shaving creams, and I must say I should have tried them a long time ago!

To highlight a couple of the major benefits I discovered: A little bit of product goes a long way, I was testing this with a sample we got from a Lush location. The razor seems to glide over the skin with less friction, as if the blades are hydroplaning over the skin. The herbal and oatmeal ingredients did a good job soothing and moisturizing my face both during and after the shave. Like I mentioned above, since the scent is suitable for both men and women I’m guessing I can share this product with my girlfriend, save money and reduce dreaded bathroom clutter.

Conclusion: My face almost always gets irritated from shaving, this cream dramatically reduced that irritation. I was left with a smooth fresh shave. I plan on purchasing a full size version of this product as soon as my current shaving foam is gone. (I might take some pictures to illustrate the difference between this product has on my skin compared to my current shaving foam.)
