Beauty & Finance

I started this blog out of concern for the many unused products I had collected, and I've found that I continue to want more and more!! I spend many hours in a week gathering products into shopping carts, researching, and debating what to buy. Thankfully, my boyfriend stops me from making most online purchases.

I am pretty terrible at following budgets, and today I wondered - HOW do you all do it? I tweeted the question today, and one of my followers reminded me of the put money in an envelope technique. (Yes, I have shopping issues. I have a very cute Rebecca Minkoff pouch labeled "allowance" that I purchased for this purpose last year!)

I also thought about making a separate checking account to save up for products, but that doesn't seem... Restrictive enough for me.

Most of the time, I purchase with no plan or strategy in mind - I just debate and extensively research products. I definitely need a strategy to relieve some of this stress! lol!

What do you do to plan for beauty purchases? Do you save up, and if so how do you stay diligent?

March Goals Recap

I don't think I posted a recap of my goals in February, but you may recall that some of my beauty resolutions for 2012 included no buys, wearing making more frequently, and washing my face every night. I've done super well on washing my face nearly every night in March, which is great. Wearing makeup, not so much. My goals app makes it very clear that wearing makeup tends to happen only on days off, and infrequently even then because many of those days are spent trying products at a counter!

Which brings me to my last major goal of limiting purchases. Yikes do I like to buy things, especially on days off!

Stay tuned to see my March hauls, favorites, and more reviews!

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge - Currently Available

I think many of you may be aware but some Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge shades that are not typically available are currently available at Nordstrom: Chocolate Cherry & Milk Chocolate. I'm not sure why Pot Rouges have limited availability or why shades are always discontinued. Bobbi Brown's website doesn't seem to have it at all, and the few department store websites seemed to be out of stock. Nordstrom and Sephora still had Pale Pink available as well.

I discovered pot rouges after watching a Lisa Eldridge video, and find them to be very natural, matte options for cream blush. I have Powder Pink, and while the shade isn't what i imagine powder pink to be, I absolutely love it! I also have a sample of Summer Tan, which is gorgeous as well.

Because my lips are dry, they are not successful for me as lip color, but I really intended to use it as a cream blush anyway.

If you wanted to try a Pot Rouge, I suggest you do it ASAP! I love mine and suspect they may be discontinued soon! :(
